Mackenzie, nestled on the traditional territories of the Tse'Khene peoples, is rapidly emerging as a premier destination for mountain biking enthusiasts. Surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, including mountains, lakes, and rivers, this northern town offers an exceptional backdrop for outdoor adventures. Thanks to the Mackenzie Outdoor Route & Trail Association (MORATA) and the local biking community, Mackenzie's mountain biking scene is flourishing. Morfee Mountain, a centerpiece of this growth, provides diverse trails, from exhilarating downhill runs to picturesque cross-country routes, ensuring riders of all skill levels find something to enjoy.

The convenient location of Mackenzie in a flat valley allows quick, easy mountain access, ideal for serious riders and those seeking leisurely rides. The Azan Tunneh multi-use perimeter trail is wide, smooth, and relatively flat, perfect for a post-work cruise or warm-up lap. Morfee Mountain features British Columbia's longest shuttle access downhill run and the epic Morfee Mountain Ridgeline Trail, spanning 15 kilometers with 850 meters of descent. With passionate bikers, accessible trails, and a growing reputation, Mackenzie is becoming a mountain biking haven free from typical crowds and high costs.

Getting Here & Trail Access

Mackenzie sits in the epic Rocky Mountain Trench, a small town in a seriously big landscape in the Northeastern part of the province.

The easiest way to explore Mackenzie is by car. Mackenzie is a 2 hour drive north of Prince George. Located on Highway 39, just 29 kilometres north of Mackenzie Junction on Highway 97.

There are direct flights to Prince George Airport (YXS) from Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, and Calgary. Prince George is a two-hour drive from Mackenzie. Car rentals are available from the airport. Private and chartered flights are welcome to land at the Mackenzie Community Airport (YZY) where fuel is available. Runway is 1,585 m in length.
